A Bit About Glenn
Glenn Edens joins Space Exploration Strategies as a Technology Expert and Operations Advisor.
With an extensive background as a researcher, entrepreneur, corporate executive and venture investor in telecommunications, entertainment, enterprise software, computer science & design, Glenn Edens has led research, technology transfer, product development, business development, innovation, strategy, M&A, corporate venture and family office investing: uniquely spanning some of the World’s largest corporations to startups to non-profits. He currently is a Professor of Practice on the faculty of ASU’s Thunderbird School of Global Management as well as consulting to firms across many industries and regions.

Previously he directed research in computer networks, telecommunications, digital transformation, security and distributed computing at PARC, a Xerox Company. He served as Cheif Executive Officer of Range Networks, Senior Vice President & Director of Sun Microsystems Laboratories, Chief of Technology Strategy and Chief Scientist at Hewlett Packard, President of AT&T Strategic Ventures (where he also served as Vice President of Broadband Technology at AT&T Laboratories). At Paul Allen's Interval Research Corporation he directed research into home networking, consumer electronics, artificial intelligence, media production and media streaming. He also served as Chief Analyst for Paul Allen’s Vulcan Ventures.

His consulting clients include major firms such as Apple Corps, Microsoft, Autodesk, Kohler, CableLabs, McKinsey & Company, Eurogroup, Intentional Futures, Philips, Sony, Wadia Digital, Boeing Corporation, Olympus, Alcatel-Lucent, Cisco, Moog, Xinova, Gerson Lehrman Group, First Chicago, Citigroup, Temasek, Wildcat Ventures, Kleiner, Perkins, Caulfield and Byers and Government Agencies.

Glenn Edens’ seven startups include co-founder of Grid Systems Corporation, the company that created and produced the World’s first laptop computer, the first laptop in Space and the first tablet computer (his design for the clamshell laptop is included in the permanent collection of the Museum of Modern Art in New York), co-founder of WaveFrame Corporation, which developed the first all-digital audio workstation, which transformed the motion picture, television and music industries (WaveFrame received an Oscar from the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences for their pioneering work in digital media) as well as startups in scientific workstations, video editing and processing, asset management, software defined radio and desktop publishing.
His prior positions include Executive Vice President of Corporate Strategy & Investor Relations at NBI, Product Marketing Director at Apple Computer, Director of Engineering at National Semiconductor and Manager of Advanced Development at Xerox Corporation (Palo Alto Research Center). He’s served as a Principal Investigator for major Government research projects funded by the National Science Foundation (NSF), Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA), Department of Defense (DoD) and Department of Energy (DoE).

He’s served on boards of directors for private and public corporations including Flow Technologies, XR, Ventech, Excite@Home, CableLabs, Internet Capital Group, CMGi, F5 Networks, Georgia Tech College of Computing as well as non-profits in the arts, music and sciences such as ZeroOne: The Art & Technology Network. Professor Edens’ artwork is included in private collections, solo and group exhibitions and major museums including the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) in New York and The Smithsonian in Washington D.C. He holds six United States patents and has published in peer reviewed journals as well as being a sought after speaker.
